FIRST READING:
Hos. 2: 16-17, 21-22 I will betroth you to me forever.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM:
Ps. 103 The Lord is kind and merciful.
SECOND READING:
2 Cor. 3: 1-6 You are a letter from Christ for us to deliver.
GOSPEL:
Mk. 2: 18-22 The bridegroom is still with them. So long as the groom stays with them, they cannot fast.

FOCUS: No one sows a patch of unshrunken cloth on an old cloak.
scriptural topics: forgiveness, authority, pardon, mercy.
REFLECTION: The demons have no means of taking possession of a mans spirit or body, no power forcibly to enter his soul, unless they first deprive him of all holy thoughts, and make him empty and devoid of spiritual contemplation. St. John Cassian

You seek the Lord? Seek, but only within yourself. He is not far from anyone. The Lord is near all those who truly call on Him. Find a place in your heart, and speak there with the Lord. It is the Lords reception room. Everyone who meets the Lord, meets Him there; He has fixed no other place for meeting souls. Theophane the Recluse

Live in faith and hope, though it be in darkness, for in this darkness God protects the soul. Cast your care upon God for you are His and He will not forget you. Do not think that He is leaving you alone, for that would be to wrong him.
St. John of the Cross
You are a letter from Christ for us to deliver.
APPLYING THE READINGS TO THE LITURGY:
Introduce the liturgy by speaking of the Spirit of God who pours new wine into our renewed bodies in Christ.
SPRINKLING RITE
PENITENTIAL RITE: third, with seventh set of sample invocations.
General Intercessions:
Introduction: My dear brothers and sisters, together our prayers reach God. United in our faith, let us pray:
¥ That Christians everywhere may be responsive to the word of God;
¥ÊThat people everywhere may work for peace;
¥ That all who have grown complacent in faith may turn to God again and be reconciled as visionaries of a better world;
¥ That our community and families who welcome Christ into their lives, learn to receive him in the smallest and weakest among us.
Introduce the breaking of the bread by proclaiming the power of love has triumphed in the person of Jesus, the one we now receive.

PREFACE: #6 or #7 or Sundays of Ordinary Time
PRAYERS OVER THE PEOPLE:
#2or #16

Faith Formation
Those who accept the Word of God are members of the family of Christ. Many may hear the words of Christ and fail to understand them. Todays gospel points out that the family of God is about newness, renewal and a reawakening to God in our midst. Talk about the need to see the newness that dwells within us..

Childrens Liturgy
of the Word
What was the point that Jesus was trying to make? What does it mean that we should have new wine skins. How is each day new? Focus on the idea that things are always new. Everyone gets a new day to tackle. We shall always encounter new experiences. Being a part of the family of God is to see newness in others. Ask the children to reflect on family as being something beyond the immediate siblings.
